Nowadays, it is a love-hate affair between Owners and Realtors. Owners failing to turn up or expect prompt arrival while Realtors including co-broking ones fail to turn up too.

For new associates, do be professional. It is best to tell all Owners/co-broking agents that viewing is not confirmed till you call again. You will encounter the situation where the Owner, Agent or co-broking agent or all 3 sometimes fail to turn up too.

However, to build up your reputation with Owners/co-broking agent, do cancel appointments early. Nobody wants to do business with you if you do not cancel appointments. Do turn up even though your client may have cancelled appointments to explain to the Owner who sometimes cannot be contacted.

Email below showed one side of the story from the Owner. According to the associate, it was a tentative appointment. Do try to be careful. Best wishes.

Subject: Re: Aspen Heights for Mr Aitken Sat 26

I am very disappointed to learn after I arrived at Aspen Heights this

morning that the appointment was cancelled. I knew of this after I called

her on the handphone. Your Associate did not show up. Neither has she the courtesy to call me in advance. When I spoke to her last Thursday, I told her that in order to meet the appointment, I will cancel my golf game. I also clearly told her to inform me in advance if the appointment is cancelled. I gave her my handphone no.

As a professional real estate agent, that is if associate or your firm is

one, I should be informed in advance of the cancellation. Put yourself in a

situation where the owner fails to show up whilst you and your client show

up.

There is no need for apologies but I sincerely hope that in your future

appointments with houseowners, please do not repeat this mistake. Its not

nice.
