Meet at Four Seasons Hotel.  Wanted to see bungalows $10,000 - $14,000 and a black and white at $20,000.

Cluny Road 5+1 19000/8000 sq. ft $22,000.  Big mansion with huge bedrooms and inground pool near the Botanic Gardens. 4 bedrooms upstairs and 1 downstairs.   Modern house with large tiled car park. Picture of living and dining room. One huge guest room downstairs.  8000 sq. ft of built in area means that the bedrooms are very spacious.  Impressed with this house.

Cluny Hill Road 5+1 21000/5500sq. ft  $18,000
Tranquil ambience and the spacious bedrooms.   New kitchen will be installed.   Complained that it was hemmed in by close neighbours although this bungalow is on a hill.

Dunearn bungalow 5+1 7300/3200 sq. ft $12,000. A pretty red brick renovated house with a small garden and an outdoor patio.  A small above ground pool can be installed.  Blue floral tiles and colourful mosaic tiles in the master bathroom. Big balcony. Quiet neighbourhood.  Said that the tinted glass windows make rooms dark.

Namly neighbourhood 4+1 12000/5000 sq. ft $17,000.  Pool can be installed.  Hill top. Very large garden of over 3,000 sq. ft with a koi fish pond and a half basketball court.  White marble flooring in all rooms.  New kitchen and bathrooms.  Liked this house for its big lawn but the facade and the floor plan were not what her soul was looking for.

Namly Gardens 6+1 12500/8500 sq. ft $12,500.  Big side garden with big above ground pool. New kitchen and bathrooms.  Ceramic tiled floor, not marble flooring.   Privacy.

New bright kitchen and bathrooms. Big balcony off family room upstairs overlooking pool. Large inground pool.  Liked the neat houses and the quiet neighbourhood of bungalows, some of which are "black and whites".  This would be her choice residence if she could not find the house which will vow her.

Chancery Lane 2-storey black and white bungalow 5+1  $15,000. Tenant to install own pool and remove it after tenancy.  Available in October 2001.   Walking distance to Novena subway.

3-bedroom 3000 sq. ft built in at $13,500 for one-storey bungalows 4+2 55000/6000 sq. ft at $25,000 for big mansions.

Conclusion.
It was love at first sight. The English woman's heart was for the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood with its lovely black and white bungalows lined up on both sides of Mount Pleasant Drive.   Where neighbours cannot be seen as some bungalows sprawl over 55,000 sq. ft of land.   The picture above is a single storey bungalow of around 3000 sq. ft built in area renting around $13,000.    The sprawling grounds mean that neighbours are further away.  The tranquility and quietness were hard to imagine in the bustling and fast paced   Singapore but this sleepy neighbourhood actually exists in Singapore and so near to the downtown.

We had spent an hour admiring the ideal homes at Mount Pleasant.  It would be one hour before the plane leave for China for another business meeting.  She decided it would be the black and white bungalows.
