Psoriasis: Psoriasis is similar to seborrhea and eczema in its symptoms. Psoriasis is a "persistent skin disease that got its name from the Greek word for "itch." The skin becomes itchy, inflamed and produces silvery scales which are thickened and occur most often in the scalp, knees and lower back. The scales are also common in areas of the body where there are folds of skin. Psoriasis is not contagious. Approximately 2% of the population is affected with psoriasis. Although the cause of psoriasis is unknown, the same result occurs as dandruff and seborrhea, which is the rapid shedding of skin. The skin becomes inflamed for some reason (perhaps due to a white blood cell abnormality), and the skin begins to become inflamed. Because of the inflammation, the shedding begins. In fact the shedding of skin is approximately every 3-4 days. Psoriasis can also be activated by cuts, abrasions, sun burn and scratches.

Psoriasis flare-ups often occur in the winter when the skin is dry and flaky and as a result of the lack of UV sunlight. Each flare-up differs in severity, duration, location, and in the shape and pattern of the scales.


The most common form begins with little red bumps. Gradually these grow larger and scales form. While the top scales flake off easily and often, scales below the surface stick together. When they are removed, the tender, exposed skin bleeds. These small red areas then grow, sometimes becoming quite large. Elbows, knees, groin and genitals, arms, legs, palms and soles, scalp and face, body folds and nails are the areas most commonly affected by psoriasis. It will often appear in the same place on both sides of the body. Nails with psoriasis have tiny pits on them. Nails may loosen, thicken or crumble and are difficult to treat.

Psoriasis treatment: Psoriasis is treated with several medications including 2.9% coal tar shampoo, salicylic acid and ultraviolet rays burning up the affected areas brown.  However, these are not guaranteed to cure.

For those who have the beginning of psoriasis, you will notice dry dandruff in your scalp, forehead and behind the ears. It is best to consult the doctor.  Most likely, the doctor will give you some anti-fungal shampoo.  The problem is that you have to use it every few days and yet the dandruff just comes back.

The home spa has never been so affordable till now. Use it to massage your skin  for 15 minutes daily if possible. If not, every 2 days to see the results of an improved dandruff-free skin.  Immerse your head inside the bubbles 3 times, holding your breath for 5 minutes. Use hot water in the bath tub. Drop in 5 ml of the aromatic oil.  I use eucalyptus.  

If your home has no long bath, install a bath tub barrel ($500). You will find that the dandruff has been thoroughly massaged away. You will feel more confident meeting people as you don't have dandruff scales falling onto your shirt and car seats. Your friends will find that you "look younger and better."  The bubble massage bath does a facial massage of your face. With use over a month, your face looks fairer and healthier. The eye shadows are not so noticeable and you look good to others. It is hard to believe until you see a person who uses this machine regularly.

Bath

Full bath: Add 5 - 10 ml  of an essential oil to the tub after the water has finished running. Stir the water to mix the oils evenly. It is best not to use soap - simply the essential oils. Baths are very effective as you breathe the vapors and absorb the oils through the skin.
