SINGAPORE'S UNIQUE HOUSES - SHOP HOUSES
The shophomes hold great
fascination for many Caucasian expatriates. A facade of a beautiful
Emerald Hill conservation shophome never fails to attract the
creative types of Caucasian expatriates. Great location, so near the active
momentum of life in downtown, near shopping malls of Orchard Road, yet so tranquil if you
rent shophomes further up Emerald Hill Road. A high population of Caucasians from
various industries. Chief executive officers rent the $20,000 ones which have roof
terraces, jacuzzi tubs and 5 bedrooms all steep in Singapore migrant history.
Emerald Hill conservation shophomes are in great demand as they are downtown and in the
centre of action. The well remodeled ones rent from $10,000 - $20,000. Remodeling
may cost the owner $500,000 or more.
One or two 2-bedroom ones rent for $7,000. The renovated shophomes just attract so many
romantic single Caucasian males mainly, some females and young couples without children
that demand is kept high. Older ones are snapped up too.
The prospective tenants usually work in the advertising, marketing and financial
fields. Please try and negotiate for a higher housing allowance of around
$15,000 - $20,000 if
you want an upscale Emerald Hill shophome to re-live and appreciate the Peranakan
history. Those renovated ones of 2-bedrooms in Everton and Blair Roads near
Chinatown will rent for around $7,000 - $8,000, depending on the economy of
Singapore.
Good quality bungalows, owing to big demand and short supply, are another hot piece of
cake.
It is not possible to put up pictures of all condos and bungalows in Singapore. Some

Caucasian expats want a very spacious and pastel coloured marble
floored living and dining area for a 3-metre long table for 10 people.
