REALTORS - For the REA exam |
One exam question asked in my REA May 2011 was a short question
on "market volatility". It was tough. You may need to read
widely as lecture notes may not cover such topics in depth and
you may not pass the test.
Market volatility refers to the large swings in prices of
investments such as shares, bonds, real estate or stock market
indexes and commodity funds. These may be due to changes in
market sentiments caused by political upheavals (Middle East
recently), Sovereign debt problems in Greece in Jun 2011
affecting investor confidence in the stock market and causing
share prices to drop. Property cooling measures in Singapore and
China to prevent "bubbles" forming.
You need to know some technical terms in investment like ROI.
How ROI is affected by market volatility in the long, medium and
short-term to be able to convince the examiner to give you good
marks.
