Renting house to cat owners

Advices to expats relocating to Singapore.

  • Majority of Singapore landlords do not have prohibitions against keeping pets in lease agreement. However, many cats do scratch the ward robes and you/your company will have hefty bills to pay at end of tenancy as you have had not returned the unit in a "tenantable" condition. Your 2 months' deposit may not even cover the cost of replacement. Declawing may be the only prevention.
Advices to Singapore landlords who dislikes pets.
  • You can insert the following legal clause in lease agreement:
The Tenant agrees with the Landlord as follows:
Not to keep any bird, dog or any other animal which may cause annoyance to any owner lessee or occupier of the other units in the building.
