Will the pekinese lose its eye?

December 23, 1999.
Corneal ulcers both eyes, with left eye severely affected.

January 15, 2000.  The owner wanted the dog home.  Corneal ulceration of the left eye was healing very well.  See  last photo at:
http://www.asiahomes.com/dev/0118Pekeye_ulcer.htm
At day 23, the left eye was clear and there was little discharge as the Pekinese had been kept confined and given eye drops 3 times per day.  But it needed to be at home.

Right half of the cornea becomes very cloudy. Excessive tearing.
January 21, 2000.  6 days at home.  Mimi was active running around the house.  Wind, spot-lights and dust probably cause irritation.  A white semi-circle opacity developed from 12 to 6 o'clock.  Sticky tear stains and hair below the ulcer poking at the wound.  Was warded again.

Antibiotic injection to kill bacteria inside eyeball.

Tranquilised and given antibiotic injection into the eye via the subconjunctiva.   Hair around eyelids and the characteristic Pekinese nasal skin fold shaved off.

Extra large Elizabeth collar.
A much larger Elizabeth collar was proposed by the owner so that Mimi would not rub her eyes against the cage.

For the  kennel operator, this Pekinese needs to be hand-fed.  A novice operator will think that it can eat by putting food in a bowl as part of the usual routine.   The extra-large sized neck collar prevents eating.  A drinking bottle was put up.

Will the dog become blind in the left eye?  If the internal vitreous of the eyeball is infected and the whole eyeball becomes septic, the eye ball will need to be removed.   Time will tell.
