Cat flu
This 18-year old cat may be one of the oldest in Singapore. She had not been eating for the past few days. She was coughing, sneezing and was not eating for the past few days.

Usually the source of the cat flu virus was the stray kittens brought into the apartment as in this case.

Do remember to vaccinate your cat yearly.

Most Singapore cat owners don't vaccinate their cats as they are mostly adopted strays but a newer generation will be more educated and aware of the impact of flu viruses and the importance of vaccination. This cat survived after treatment but not all geriatric cats will.

House hunting with an American lady who wanted to live near the American Club and who was worried that the air conditioners (individual units) would be noisy as experienced in the Chestnut Drive house she was residing.

"-02" unit faces the Stevens Road, but at 16th floor, the noise level is low if windows are closed. There are no balconies in The Draycott unlike Habitat I and II.

The "-03" units are the best located units, no road facing and no blocked views. There are 3 apartments per floor level.

Conclusion:

Update as at May 2001.

The condos near the American Club are hot and owners have no problem finding a Tenant as the economy has recovered and more expats have arrived in Singapore. Renovated units get rented out fast despite the lack of views in this built up area. The older barely renovated Claymore 4-bedroom of 3,300 sq. ft rents around $15,000.

The brand new 4+1 2900 sq. ft Ardmore Park available in May/June 2001 rents from $13,000 - $20,000.

A very small and narrow utility area extends from the kitchen and ends with a maid's room and bathroom. Natural daylight comes from a window at the end of the utility corridor. Advantages & Disadvantages	Great location near Orchard Road and the American Club. Panoramic city views from 15th floor upwards. Very bright kitchen which is an open concept layout in renovated units. Some owners have used wood for all rooms and have converted the maid's room to the 4th bedroom. Circular floor plan is the main complaint. The 4th bedroom is a small study room.	Great location near Orchard Road and the American Club. Huge balcony of over 800 sq. ft. Separate living and dining area downstairs with 2 huge columns. The upper floor has the bedrooms, giving privacy. Views are usually blocked by big buildings.	Great location near Orchard Road and the American Club. #...-01 & #...-02 face pool and 8 Orange Grove & D'Grove Villas. #...-03 face Ardmore Park construction. Some units have a very big joined balcony off the living and dining area. Other units have only a balcony off the living area. Views are usually those of other buildings.

Habitat II. A modern kitchen but design and decor depends on the private individual owner's taste. After remodeling, some units have no maid's room but others have one beside the kitchen.

Habitat II. Renovated master bathroom, all white, including bidet. Renovation depends on individual owners.
